What we get off the concrete
The Stains That Make an Entrance Look Neglected
Every kind of mess ends up on a sidewalk sooner or later, and each one needs its own approach.
Gum
Those flattened black spots near every door. Hot water softens them so they lift off instead of smearing.
Grease and Food Spills
Outside restaurants and food courts, grease soaks into the concrete and turns slick when it's wet.
Graffiti
Spray paint and marker on the concrete can often be lifted with the right treatment.
Mildew and Algae
The green and black film on shaded walks that gets dangerously slippery after a rain.
Fuel and Oil
Drips and drag marks where the walk meets the parking lot and delivery area.
Everyday Grime
Foot traffic, leaves and dirt that slowly turn light concrete dark gray.

Why hot water
Cold Water Just Moves Grease Around
Hot water does the same thing on a greasy sidewalk that it does on a greasy pan in the sink. Heated water breaks down grease, oil and gum far better than cold water does, so the stain actually lets go of the concrete instead of spreading out into a bigger gray smear.
We pair the hot water with treatments matched to what we're cleaning. Gum gets one approach, a grease spill outside a restaurant gets another, and mildew on a shaded walk gets a third. That's how the whole walk comes out the same color, instead of clean patches next to dingy ones.
We can do the work at night, like the job in this photo, so your storefronts stay open and the walks are dry by morning.

Common questions
Sidewalk Cleaning Questions
Can you really get gum off a sidewalk?
Yes, in most cases. Hot water softens the gum so it lifts away, and whatever faint marks are left are a lot less noticeable than the black spots were.
Do we have to close the entrance?
No. We clean one stretch of walkway at a time, so there's always a clear way in.
Is a clean sidewalk really a safety issue?
It is. Grease, algae and mildew all get slick when they're wet, and that's exactly where people slip. Keeping the walk clean takes away a real hazard for your customers and staff.
Does cleaning help the concrete last?
Fuel, grease and grime slowly break down the surface. Washing them off regularly helps the sidewalk hold up longer before it needs repair.
Do you clean residential walkways?
We do. For homes, the walkways usually come with a driveway cleaning, and our pressure washing page explains how we price that.
What about the wash water?
For properties in the City of Houston that need it, we can collect the water instead of letting it run to the storm drain. See our water reclamation page.
